30 students of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia visited Bandar Lampung DPRD Office, Tuesday (13/9). The arrival of the ‘The champion’s campus’ students was welcomed by the Chairman of the Bandar Lampung DPRD H. Wiyadi SP, MM., and his staff in the Main Lobby Meeting Room of the Bandar Lampung City DPRD Office.
On that occasion, Wiyadi appreciated the concern of the best ASEAN private private universities on the social dynamics of today’s society. “The arrival of Teknokrat student brings good and positive things. Expressing aspirations in a polite and elegant manner that is packaged in discussions like this must become a culture,” he said.
Wiyadi emphasized that the nation’s various problems require solutions. The answers to these problems can be obtained through dialogues between students, academics, and the DPRD. “We welcome the arrival of students from Teknokrat who put forward discussion in conveying their aspirations. In this case, the increase in fuel prices,” he said.
In the discussion, a number of leaders of the UTI Student Executive Board (BEM) expressed their opinion about the increase in fuel prices in the community. Akbar Maulana as Student President, Rifli Yanto as BEM FTIK, M. Riski Mulia as BEM FSIP, Resky Eldiansyah as BEM FEB, expressed his concern over the current condition of the residents.
BEM assesses that the increase in fuel prices is very difficult for the community, especially the poor. “Residents in the poverty line have difficulty meeting their daily needs because the price of basic commodities also increased after the fuel price was raised earlier this month,” said Rifli Yanto.
Meanwhile, Resky Eldiansyah as BEM FEB said that in addition to the increase in the price of basic commodities, his party also discussed the increase in fuel prices which could cause inflation. “The government must move quickly to provide social assistance for the economically weak,” he said.
Similarly, M. Riski Mulia as BEM FSIP explained that the distribution of social assistance could reduce the risk of increasing the number of poor people. “The increase in fuel prices could have a domino effect. Hopefully the distribution of social assistance can be right on target,” he said.
Riski also conveyed that the students submitted a statement letter to the Government of Indonesia through the DPRD of Bandar Lampung City which contained a review of the policy of increasing fuel prices.
