The Sports Education Study Program (Prodi) of the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia enriches insight into sport tourism by conducting sports seminars. The seminar which took place at the campus, Monday (19/8/2019) took the theme “Potential of sports tourism in increasing tourist visits”. This seminar brought speakers from Jakarta, Dr. Nofi Marilna Siregar, M.Pd. He is an academic who is familiar with the development of recreational sports where he is the Head of the Recreational Sports Study Program at the State University of Jakarta with the jargo of Fun Recreational Sports.
In his presentation, Nofi Marlina said, Lampung Province is a province that has a lot of tourism potential, it’s a shame that the great potential is not accommodated properly. A sports student should see this as a great opportunity to make it a new job in the realm of sports. Don’t be oriented that someone who studies sports education will only become a teacher, we can see that in the realm of regional potential, a sports scholar is able to become a travel owner, sport tourism travel agent and many more.
Nofi explained, Sport Tourism or sports tourism is a sport-based long journey from the home environment for a limited time. Where sport is characterized by a unique set of rules, competition related to physical prowess, and fun nature. Is an activity that combines sports as well as aims to promote tourism in an area. In building a sports tourism market, it will be very important for a country to recognize and understand the advantages and results of sports tourism, said Nofi in a sports seminar.
In his presentation, Nofi said that sport tourism is divided into three aspects, namely,
Besides having to know what the function and role of sport tourism is as a big potential, we also have to understand the knowledge. So that later when we are running in the development of sports tourism, we will not damage the natural resources itself, apart from the positive side, it turns out to have negative sides such as natural destruction, nature reserves, and environmental destruction. For that, it is necessary to give good insight and knowledge to jointly protect nature as a hereditary heritage that is continuously guarded by us. In the seminar, Sports Education students at the Indonesian Technocrat University were challenged by resource persons to create an event which would later be initiated by students of the sports study program.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Education, Akhyar Ridho S.S, M.A, Ph.D, said that this sports seminar is a new breakthrough which combines two disciplines, namely tourism and sports. Later the campus will continue to make a breakthrough in the hope that it will produce graduates who are qualified and have competence in every field of science. “For things like this, we will continue to support and continue to do our best,” said Akhyar. Meanwhile, Rizki Yuliandra, M.Pd, Head of the Sports Education Study Program at the Indonesian Technocrat University said that the Sports Study Program will continue to run to produce graduates who are ready to work and produce national leaders.
For this reason, we will continue to increase all student competencies not only by studying, but we will involve students in research, service and national or international seminar activities. We will continue to build this method to produce quality students in our study program. We can see that currently our students are “The Champion” students as evidenced by always dominating in every Championship or sporting event in Lampung Province.
