The Best ASEAN Private University, Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, carried out a Community Service of the Vocational Schools at SMK Amal Bhakti, Jatimulyo, South Lampung.
The Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) held community service activities (PKM) in many schools throughout Lampung Province with the theme Fostered Schools starting in early 2022. Community service (PKM) itself is a form of Lecturers’ Tridharma apart from Teaching and Research. This time, the Implementation of the PKM was carried out at the SMK Amal Bhakti, Jatimulyo. SMK Amal Bhakti itself is located on Jl. Panembahan Senopati, Jatimulyo, Jati Agung Distric, South Lampung Regency, Lampung. PKM at SMK Amal Bhakti Jatimulyo was carried out by the Mathematics and English Literature Education Study Programs with the theme of Strengthening Mathematics Learning with English.
The training activities were held in two meetings, they are on Thursday, April 21, 2022, and on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. The activities were carried out by some lecturers and students, including Sugama Maskar, M.PMat, Raras Kartika Sari, M.Pd., and Very Hendra Saputra, M.Pd. as a Mathematics Education study program Lecturers, and Dr. Afrianto, M. Hum. as a Lecturer of English Literature study program. In addition, some students helped with the activity, including Yuli Santika and Nyoman Gita Gayatri from the Mathematics Education Study Program and Wahid Kurniawan from the English Literature Study Program, and Sufi Markhamah from the English Education Study Program. The activity was opened directly by the headmaster of SMK Amal Bhakti Jatimulyo, Sugiyono Sapto Susilo, S.H., along with the vice-headmaster and teachers of SMK Amal Bhakti. The headmaster of SMK Amal Bhakti Jatimulyo stated that they strongly support this activity, especially since the relationship between SMK Amal Bhakti Jatimulyo and the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia has been established for quite a long time with various positive activities carried out. Therefore, Mr. Sugiyono hopes that activities like this can be maintained so that students gain other perspectives and broad insights. Furthermore, Mr. Sugiyono also hopes that this activity can also be an example for other universities so that they can provide mutual benefits.

The first activity on April 21, 2022, was to present material related to the importance of mastering English in this globalization and digital era, as well as explanations related to some common mathematical vocabulary in English. The presentation of the material was carried out by a team of lecturers and students located in the Hall of SMK Amal Bhakti Jatimulyo. The first meeting was also closed by giving quizzes to SMK Amal Bhakti students through the Kahoot application. The first activity was greeted with enthusiasm by SMK Amal Bhakti students even though the implementation was carried out during the month of Ramadhan, a fasting month for Muslim people. In addition to material presentation activities, students are also given the challenge to be able to provide suggestions and views on the training through Instagram stories, and those who are good and lucky get door prizes. As a result, many students took part in the challenge.
Furthermore, the second activity will be held on June 7, 2022. This activity is more about evaluation related to the implementation of the first training. Students are asked to show the results of the first training related to exposure to the use of English in learning Mathematics and to explain the importance of mastering English in everyday life. In addition, students were also given several examples of creative mathematics learning videos carried out by students of the Mathematics Education Study Program while studying at the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia. Through this video, the Mathematics Education Study Program wants to show that learning Mathematics at Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia does not only emphasize the theoretical aspect but also creativity and its application in real life. Furthermore, Mathematics Education lecturers and students also invite students of SMK Amal Bhakti Jatimulyo to hold a Math Club at school as a form of self-actualization for students who have an interest in learning Mathematics at school.
This Community Service (PKM) activity for the target school has been going on since the previous year and is fully supported by the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia.
Dr. Mahathir Muhammad, S.E., M.M. as the Vice-Rector of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, said that the Assisted School Program is a manifestation of the commitment of the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia to the improvement and advancement of education, especially in Lampung Province. In addition, this activity is also a place for lecturers and students to be able to see firsthand the problems that occur in schools so that the implementation of teaching and research can be directly felt by the community. Mr. Mahathir also expressed his appreciation for the school which also welcomed this activity so that there was a positive synergy between universities and schools so that they could provide direct benefits for teachers and students in schools. Mr. Mahathir also hopes that this activity can be an example and inspiration for other agencies in the context of jointly advancing education in Lampung Province.
