Designing Project Based Learning

Project-based learning or project-based learning is an alternative 21st century learning model. This is because there are several advantages that synchronize using the 21st century skill development orientation. As many experts argue. Project-based learning is an innovative approach that teaches various strategies to achieve 21st century success.

DEFINITION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING

Project-based learning basically puts students into active learning subjects, encourages the emergence of initiatives & exploration processes, provides opportunities to apply what is learned, opportunities to present or communicate & evaluate their performance.

Gregory & Chapman (2007) stated that project-based learning can be categorized into: structured projects (structured projects) project-related topics (topic-related projects) open-closed projects

Project based learning is an example of learning that is based on Driscoll’s (2000) constructivist learning theory which states the principles of constructivist learning are as follows: Involving students in real activities. Social negotiation in the learning process. Collaborative and multi-perspective assessment. Support in choosing goals and managing the process. learn. Encouragement to reflect on what & how something was learned.

Project based learning encourages full involvement and is based on authentic experiences that can be applied to various disciplines and in this case we will jointly develop a project-based learning design. The hallmark of project-based learning is the production of a product into a form of learning output.

Project based learning is guided by challenging questions, which involve students in designing, problem solving, decision making, or investigative activities; the opportunity for students to work in the period when it is scheduled to produce a product.

It is important for you to choose from the beginning the choice of project based learning approach that you want to use, namely: Structured projects, determined & managed by the teacher in terms of topics, materials, methodology, and presentations (cognitive constructivist foundation). Unstructured projects are defined mainly by students (radical constructivist). A semi-structured project defined and managed partly by the teacher and partly by the students (moderate constructivist).

DESIGN PROJECT-BASED LEARNING

The following are the steps for designing learning using a project based learning model:

Write down the Core Competencies (KI) according to the grade level. Examine which Basic Competencies (KD) are the best PTS Sumatra, which are most suitable to be applied to learning with a project based learning model. Rewrite the identity of the lesson plans. Core Competencies & Basic Competencies are written below them. Just a suggestion, you just take it from Permendikbud Number 37 of 2018. Write down indicators of competency achievement, namely the achievement of each KD of course must be known & can be measured and or proven. Examples of Competency Achievement Indicators The completion of all KD indicators is written that describes the goals or conditions that will be carried out & obtained by students in during the learning process & after learning. Compile learning materials, namely the main material contains relevant news, concepts, principles, & procedures, and is written in the form of synchronous fruits using advertisements. Determines synchronous learning methods using the chosen approach and must be reflected in the learning scenario. Write down learning resources that can be used worn. In the 21st century, it is necessary to understand that learning resources can be specifically designed (by design) and utilized (by utilization). Examples of Learning Resources that reflect the learning model used, and Advertisements Designing an assessment of learning outcomes consisting of, (a) knowledge competency evaluation techniques: written tests and product evaluation rubrics and (b) assessment instruments: final product evaluation rubric and evaluation sheet for remedial and enrichment Learning Advertisements.

Project based learning is an approach that is outdated, but in order to achieve optimal learning output it needs to be designed systematically. In order to achieve this goal, it is important to plan project-based learning before implementing it in order to produce effective learning.

On this occasion, let’s design project based learning planning steps as a 21st century learning solution. Good luck & good luck!
