LECTURE OF UNIVERSITAS TEKNOKRAT INDONESIA BRIDGING PROGRAMME IN IRELAND

The Best PTS Sumatran Indonesian Technocrat University continues to provide support and space for lecturers to develop themselves in order to improve the quality of education. This can be seen from one of the lecturers of the Faculty of Letters and Education at the Indonesian Technocrat University, Dian Puspita, S. Hum., M.Li. who took part in the Bridging Course for Academic College Lecturers in Ireland.

Dian Lecturer at the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia attends pre-doctoral training

In this program, Dian attended pre-doctoral training which included activities such as orientation about the destination university; the characteristics of the doctoral program in the destination country; doctoral frameworks and programs at destination universities; the process of applying for a doctoral program at the destination university, writing personal statements, and research skills, including presentation skills, critical thinking, using academic resources in libraries, introduction to research ethics and integrity, and introduction to cross-cultural learning; and also matchmaking with supervisors. On this occasion, Dian was also involved in a poster exhibition where academic posters about research proposals were presented.

Poster exhibition of activities participated by Dian Lecturer at the Indonesian Technocrat University

This poster exhibition was attended by all participants of the Bridging Course at the National University of Ireland Galway (NUIG) and took place in the Orbsen Building where several laboratories and research centers are located. Dian, as one of the participants, had the opportunity to explain the doctoral research plan to all participants who attended the activity. Participants who attended consisted of potential supervisors as well as NUIG doctoral and postgraduate students. Indonesian students who are studying for doctoral and postgraduate studies are also present at this poster exhibition.

The academic atmosphere is very much felt in this poster exhibition. Academics can discuss, obtain and inspire each other, and exchange information and experiences with each other. The same thing has also been implemented by the Indonesian Technocrat University Campus Hijau Sang Juara which regularly holds poster exhibitions as one of the achievements of the Academic Speaking course taken by English Literature students, for example. Through academic activities like this, Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia provides students with world-class learning experiences.

The Bridging Program Certificate is awarded by the Vice President of Internationalization

At the end of the program, Dian as one of the Bridging Program participants received a certificate given by Prof. Becky Whay, Vice President of Internationalization, at the graduation ceremony which took place at Emily Anderson Concert Hall, National University of Ireland. At the end of his remarks, Jim Connoly, as the program coordinator, said that during this program, they could see the high enthusiasm of the lecturer participants to continue their studies. The diverse cultural richness of the Bridging participants is also an important point that can be taken in the implementation of this program. “You’re all very nice, always give radiant energy during the learning process. That’s a good quality we adore from all of you,” said Jim.

Introducing Lampung Culture, Lampung Traditional Fabric- Tapis

A lecturer at the Indonesian Technocrat University, Dian also introduced the traditional Lampung-tapis cloth to academics involved in this Bridging Program. Prof. Becky Whay (Vice President of Internationalization), Dr. Andrew Flaus (CSE Vice Dean for Internationalization), Dr. Maeve Egan (Manager of English Language Center), and Alison Herbert, M.A (English trainer of Language Center) were seen wearing Lampung tapis shawls. They feel happy and attracted by the beauty of this typical Lampung cloth. By providing the Lampung filter, it is hoped that Lampung culture can become more widely known so that Lampung culture can also be global, such as one of the missions of the Indonesian Technocrat University, namely towards Good University Governance (GUG) with international standards.

Vice Chancellor of the Indonesian Technocrat University

Vice Chancellor of the Indonesian Technocrat University Dr. H. Mahathir Muhammad, SE., MM. said that the Indonesian Technocrat University really supports Human Resources in improving the quality of themselves, especially Lecturers. With great enthusiasm, I hope Dian can continue her doctoral degree in Ireland and motivate other Indonesian Technocrat University lecturers to continue their doctoral studies as well. Thus, the education quality of the Indonesian Technocrat University can be more advanced so that it can contribute to the development of Indonesian Human Resources, especially Lampung. (technocrat)
