Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia (UTI) is committed to continuing to be involved in environmental conservation.
A total of 1,000 trees were planted to represent Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia as a Green Campus and environmentally friendly. The Tree Planting activity was symbolically inaugurated by the Trustees of Teknokrat Education Foundation, Hj Hernaini, SS., M.Pd, and the Vice Rector Dr. H. Mahathir Muhammad, SE., MM. together with the management and academics of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia.
A thousand trees are planted in stages and are planned to be spread in all areas in Lampung that are deemed necessary for reforestation to support the two million tree planting program of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture with the Indonesian Rector Forum and Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia.
One hundred of the thousand trees were planted on Wednesday (21/9/2022) at Teknocrat Eco Park, Gedong Meneng, Bandar Lampung.
Vice Rector of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia Mahathir Muhammad said the tree planting process involved the participation of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia academic community.
This is so that students’ sense of social sensitivity can also develop, especially in caring for environmental and social sustainability.
“This reforestation process is carried out simultaneously in Indonesia in the context of planting two million trees whose program was initiated by the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture in collaboration with the Indonesian Chancellor’s Forum,” he said.
“At Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, we park a thousand trees by involving students, with the hope of growing student character,”
“Moreover, the character cares for others and the environment,” he explained.
Vice Chancellor for Cooperation and General Affairs at Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia Achmad Yudi Wahyudin, S.Pd., M.Pd. added, trees that are prioritized for gardening are trees that produce fruit such as mango, durian, avocado, soursop, rambutan, jackfruit, guava, lemon, guava, and guava.
With the hope, the planting results will be able to provide use value.
“So besides being useful for environmental sustainability, the fruit can also be used by the surrounding community or students,” he explained.
Especially for the trees planted in the Teknokrat Eco Park, the trees planted include mango, durian, avocado, soursop, rambutan, jackfruit, water guava, lemon, guava, rock guava, and other fruit trees.
The maintenance process of the planted trees also involves the campus through the Greening Task Force of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia.
Planting a Thousand Trees is a series of Campus Life Introduction activities for New Students which will be completed on 19 to 21 September 2022.
