The ASEAN’s Best Private University Lecturer of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia,  Akhyar Rido Ph.D., Arrives in Bangkok and is Greeted by Analiza Liezl Perez-Amurao from Mahidol University

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, Akhyar Rido SS MA Ph.D., arrived in Bangkok two days ago. He was very well received in the Thai capital.

Mr. Rido was accepted and welcomed by Prof. Analiza Liezl Perez-Amurao, Head of Humanities and Language Division, Mahidol University International College.

Mr. Rido said to wartalampung.id via WhatsApp conversation, that in the following months, he is focusing on research, planning data collection, and interviewing foreign lecturers in Thailand regarding learning innovations using technology in universities, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Furthermore, he will also give seminars and lectures on the transformation of the higher education curriculum in Indonesia in front of Mahidol University lecturers and students.

Mr. Akhyar Rido, Ph.D. is an associate professor in the English Literature Study Program, Faculty of Arts and Education, Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia.

He completed his bachelor’s degree in English literature at Universitas Padjadjaran and master’s and doctoral degrees in English Studies at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

He is also a co-promoter and external examiner for the Doctoral Program in Literature (Specialization in Linguistics) at Universitas Padjadjaran, the Guide and Reviewer Team for the Grant Guide and Reviewer for the National Movement for Mental Revolution, Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), as well as an assessor of lecturers.

Mr. Akhyar Rido had the opportunity to become a guest lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universitas Padjadjaran, and Universitas Lambung Mangkurat in 2021.

This year, he became a visiting researcher at the Central National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Jakarta, and Supervisor of the Cooperation Program for Higher Education, the central team of Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka, Ministry of Education and Culture, RI.

In addition to teaching, he is currently actively conducting four research projects funded by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), and Mahidol University Thailand.

He also published six books/book chapters and more than 30 scientific articles. His latest book entitled Interaction and Pedagogy of Indonesian Vocational English Language Master Teachers was written with Prof. Noraini Ibrahim and Prof. Radha MK Nambiar from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and published in 2020 by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Press.

Meanwhile, one of his latest scientific articles entitled Let’s take a look…’: An Investigation of Directives as Negotiating Interpersonal Meaning in Engineering Lectures was published in 2021 in the Pertanika Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (Indexed Scopus Q1 and Web of Science), written with Dr. Heri Kuswoyo from the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, Prof. Eva Tuckyta Sari and Dr. Lia Maulia Indrayani from Universitas Padjadjaran, and Dr. Doris Macdonald from Northern Illinois University, USA.

Vice-Rector of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, Dr. H. Mahathir Muhammad, S.E., M.M., gave great appreciation for this achievement. He considered that Mr. Rido did have competency maturity so it was natural to be asked to teach at other campuses, including abroad.

Mr. Mahathir explained that Rido’s competence in the field of knowledge, he mastered was indeed appropriate if he was allowed to teach at other campuses. This, he said, became a matter of pride for the campus.

Mr. Mahathir said that Rido is a lecturer who actively writes scientific articles and books. He hopes that what Rido has done can motivate other lecturers to take similar steps.

Mr. Mahathir also wants Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia’s students to take as much knowledge as possible about Rido. That way, the knowledge transfer process can take place optimally.

Rido’s knowledge, he said, must be maximally absorbed to improve the quality of students in their field of knowledge.
