  1. YSEALI

YSEALI Academic Fellowship is an intensive short-term academic fellowship program from the United States Embassy. This scholarship applies to those aged 18-25 years. These scholarships aim to provide groups of youth with an in-depth understanding of the United States of America and on specific themes, while enhancing their leadership skills. This program provides an opportunity for students or undergraduates who have just graduated within the past five years to go to the United States for a five-week academic program. This scholarship program focuses on one of three themes, namely Community Engagement, Environmental Issues, and Social Entrepreneurship and Economic Development. The program will consist of a series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures. Classroom learning and activities will be complemented by educational trips, field trips, leadership activities, and volunteering opportunities in the local community. During the academic residency, participants will also have the opportunity to engage in educational and cultural activities outside the classroom. If conditions permit, the scholarship program will also include educational study tours to other parts of the United States, where they can meet local organizations, state organizations, private organizations, and non-profit organizations working in the field. For the record, if the program has to be carried out virtually, participants will be involved in similar activities, but online from their home countries. Should health, safety and travel conditions still pose significant challenges, the academic scholarship program will shift to a virtual format. The virtual program will consist of a minimum of 36 hours of required program with a combination of synchronous and asynchronous learning. 1.2. STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

The YSEALI Preparation Program aims to:

– improve students’ knowledge, soft skills, and cross-cultural understanding;

– open opportunities for students to get to know and study the latest science and technology and the direction of future development of science and technology;

– develop friendships and networks of student participants with students, teachers, and the general public in the countries where students carry out the program;

– preparing university graduates who are qualified, open-minded, have experience and global knowledge and are ready to face the challenges of the industrial revolution 4.0 and society 5.0;

– strengthening good relations between the government of Indonesia and the governments of partner tertiary institutions domicile countries.

1.3. MAIN OBJECTIVES 

– provide scholarships for Indonesian students to carry out mobility to partner universities abroad in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Culture;

– promote and encourage domestic universities to participate in this program;

– open up opportunities to initiate and strengthen cooperation between domestic and foreign universities;

– prepare alumni communities who have knowledge, soft skills, and cross-cultural understanding, as well as global networks and contribute synergistically for the benefit of the nation.

1.5. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

YSEALI scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

– Be 18 to 25 years old when submitting the application

– Citizens of one of the following countries: Indonesia, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

– Permanent resident of one of the following countries: Indonesia, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

– Are undergraduate students (full-time) or have graduated (S1) within the last four years

– Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English

– Qualify for a United States J-1 visa

  1. GLOBAL UGRAD

The Global Undergraduate Exchange Program (Global UGRAD) is an opportunity for students and students from Indonesia to be able to study higher education in the United States which is regularly provided and offered by AMINEF. The American Indonesia Exchange Foundation is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing opportunities for students from Indonesia to study in the United States. AMINEF’s most well-known program is the Fulbright Program, which annually provides at least 120 opportunities to study in America through various scholarship programs. One program that is also interesting from this institution which was founded in 1992 is the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program. The program whose name is usually abbreviated as Global UGRAD is basically an exchange program for undergraduate level students who are currently studying in Indonesia so that they can experience the sensation of studying in the United States in a short time. This program is supported by the U.S Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The recipients of this scholarship program will later study in only 1 semester at various universities or colleges in the United States. Students in this program will later gain extraordinary experience in terms of studying in the United States as well as extraordinary opportunities to be able to maximize their abilities and expertise. The purpose of university or college in the United States is determined based on suitability for the applicant’s current study and suitability in terms of curriculum. So while studying in the United States, basically the field will be the same as the study being taken in Indonesia. However, recipients of this scholarship program must also take 1 class of U.S. Studies (3 credits) which is intended to deepen the scholarship recipients’ understanding of the United States. Apart from that, while studying in the United States, the recipient of this scholarship must also undergo a 20-hour community service program as well as various mandatory orientations and workshops.

2.4. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

UGRAD scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

– The minimum age of the applicant is 18 years

– The applicant is an Indonesian citizen

– Applicant is currently studying S1 in Indonesia

– Applicants must have completed at least 1 semester

– Applicants must demonstrate their leadership potential through academic work, involvement in the community, and also various extracurricular activities

– The applicant has a minimum TOEFL ITP score of 500 which is obtained a maximum of 2 years before registering for the Global UGRAD program

– Applicants without experience in the United States or any area other than Indonesia will be prioritized

– After completing the study, you must immediately return to Indonesia

  1. IISMA 

The Indonesian International Students Mobility Awards (IISMA) program was initiated and organized by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemdikbud), and is one of the flagship programs of the eight Independent Campus Programs which aims to provide rights and opportunities for students to carry out self-development activities at outside the campus at universities abroad. This program opens opportunities for students to be able to take courses or activities that can be equated with courses outside of their study program’s competency courses. With this scholarship program students are facilitated to achieve learning outcomes according to their interests and talents so that after graduating from the undergraduate program they can compete in jobs not only at the national level, but also at a wider global level. In this program, students can study at tertiary institutions abroad that are partners of the Ministry of Education and Culture for 1 (one) semester whose learning activities are equalized to 20 credits, by taking courses and self-development activities that are of interest and in accordance with the requirements that apply in universities high overseas partners. Funding for the Indonesian International Students Mobility Awards Program – 2021 is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

3.3.  MAIN OBJECTIVES

3.4. SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES

The IISMA Scholarship provides opportunities for Undergraduate (S1) students in semesters 4 and 6 at domestic universities to study for one semester at partner universities abroad that have been appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture. In this scholarship program, students are required to take courses of interest or activities for one semester at partner universities which are equal to 20 credits. For departures in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year, according to the academic calendar of the foreign partner university.

 3.5. LEARNING PROCESS DETAILS

– Students must take a number of courses offered at partner universities;

– Face-to-face lectures are conducted offline;

– Universities from students recognize learning achievements that are equalized up to 20 credits as an implementation of the Independent Learning Program – Independent Campus of the Ministry of Education and Culture;

– In addition to academic activities, students are expected to take part in cultural introduction activities and other positive and beneficial activities in the country of study;

– Students can take courses in a foreign language in the country of study.

3.6. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

Indonesian Student International Mobility Scholarship Funding – 2023 includes:

– Registration fees and tuition fees (at cost) which will be paid directly to overseas partner universities;

– Travel costs in the form of round-trip economy class airline tickets from cities of origin in Indonesia to study destination cities (at cost);

– Monthly living expenses in the study destination country according to the provisions of the Ministry of Education and Culture;

– Health insurance while participating in a foreign student exchange program;

– PCR test costs before leaving for the destination country and when returning to Indonesia if needed;

– The cost of issuing a visa for the destination country;

– Collective student emergency assistance costs.

3.7. APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

IISMA scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

– Indonesian citizen and domiciled in Indonesia;

– Registered at the university in the country of origin of the student;

– Currently studying in semesters 4 and 6 in the undergraduate program (S1) when carrying out this program; • Nominated by domestic universities of origin of students; •

– Have proficiency in English as evidenced by a minimum official score of IELTS – 6.0, TOEFL iBT – 78, Duolingo English Test – 100 which is still valid on 17 May 2023; • – Have never received another foreign student exchange scholarship;

– Willing to follow the applicable rules and regulations set by the Ministry of Education and Culture while participating in this program.
